ARTIST BIO

Chalie MacRae is an abstract artist based in Melbourne, Australia.

As a young adult travelling abroad, Chalie developed what would become a long term love for art. She initially started painting as a way to decorate her own home but found she could not stop. In 2012, she left a successful career as an intelligence analyst to purse her passion for painting full time.

Painting for Chalie is both energizing and calming. Being able to explore and express her experiences and inspirations on a blank canvas is also incredibly freeing. Chalie is inspired by nature, music, travel and her urban surrounds. She loves the excitement as ideas form and as colour palettes develop, as well as the actual movement when painting.

Chalie enjoys working with different materials to achieve controlled or unpredictable elements which reflect her curious nature and love for adventure. This has resulted in her various painting styles which continue to evolve.
